Vale Royal AC Runners is the senior section of Vale Royal Athletic Club
We cater for adult runners of all standards and abilities.
Training is based in the Northwich and Winsford areas – depending on the time of year this can be on the roads, off-road or track.
Our aim is to run for enjoyment – for some this is structured training to improve performance in races on the roads, cross country, fells or track. For others it is joining like minded people for a social run.
New members are always welcome. Why not contact us and come along to one of our club nights and see what it’s like without any obligation!
If you're thinking of trying out a few training sessions with the group, you will be made very welcome. If you are not sure where to start, please contact us.
Joining a running club can feel like a big step but please do make contact with us and try us out!
You don't need to be a member to try us out, but if you enjoy being part of the group and the training, we would expect you to join the club after you have had a chance to get to know about everything that goes on! Membership Form.
You can buy club running kit at Rosebank Sports in Northwich. Kit is now available on-line here.
Midweek Training Session
There are two main training sessions a week. The Tuesday and Thursday evening sessions focus on interval training and speedwork, with a group warm-up/warm-down - although there is usually the option of a steady run for about an hour instead.
Details of the sessions are listed here.
Please feel free to come along or contact us if you want to find out more.
Sunday Runs:
Quicker Runners
Sunday mornings are reserved for the "Long Run", which is usually a 90-minute run of around 11miles starting from different places around the area at 8am. One or two routes are a little longer. Next Sunday's run is posted on the front page, usually by the Friday beforehand. At the moment, this is suitable for the quicker runners in the club (as a rough guide sub 1.35-1:40 half marathon runners).
More sensibly paced runs!
There are alternative slower runs. A big group including juniors and their coaches and mums and dads meet on a Sunday at 11am. This has a number of different groups and there should be one there to suit you. Please contact Shaun McGrath for details (the usual meeting is at Hartford but they are planning to meet at Whitegate station in the near future.
