BREACH OF RULES (2)
Pauline Davies fails to display club colours at the Tittesworth Xmas Cracker race last month.
Can you recognise all the santas? (Answer it now so you don't have to do it at next years W'Oscars!!!)
26 December: He's so old he can remember when the walls were built, but today Bernie ran what surely must be a career best performance (OK - maybe just his best since he turned 50!) in taking the MV45 award in the Round the Walls Race and whipping Tom's **** in the process! No one knows why he wasn't awarded the MV50 that he'd actually won! Results.
26 December: Tom-Tom beat Dave-Dave in a close Christmas Parlauf. Glenn and Toddy 3rd. Nick Heywood breaks the "Fastest 1st 1/2 lap in a Xmas Parlauf" record (there seems to be a theme emerging here Nick!) but in doing so fades rapidly and so relinquishes the title he won with Marcus last year!
17 December: Strange reports coming through that Bernie raced at the weekend - nobody knows where (and nobody asked!). [WW insider's comment: It was in Mold. And still nobody knows where it is]
15 December: Pauline breaks 50 minutes (with a few seconds to spare!) in the Langdale 10k despite the wet weather and the true 10k course! Well done Pauline! The curse of the Athlete of the Month award strikes as John has to withdraw through injury!
13 December: Carole Williams takes a fantastic 2nd overall in the LV55 category in the N.Staffs league! Andrew Clewes had another fantastic run for the juniors winning every race by a good margin. Class act! Confusion over the number of laps meant Tom and Colin chose the wrong race tactics but both enjoyed the very hilly and very muddy course!
10 December: Big Col's starting to get back to form in the Stockport 10 as he cruises to 2nd MV60 in 71:42. Big Stu breaks 34 minutes (33:46) and finishes 3rd in the Helena Tipping 10k, however Mary is not satisfied to be outside 44 minutes on this fast (or is it slow?) course.
7 December: A noisy night at the W'OSCARS was enjoyed by all. Well done and BIG thanks to Goffy and Bernie for their organisation and their humour! Many stories to share over the coming months!
WW of the Year: Marcus Crompton (He could easily have won all 3 categories and so the proprietor of The Terrace - which sells great food to the people - deserved to take home the main prize of the evening!).
Most Improved WW: John Todd (John was particularly gracious as he accepted his award!!! However, his humble and heartfelt speech was rather nauseating - eh Hainsey??)
WW Performance of the Year: Tom Annable (Tom was speechless during his acceptance of the award - as he thought he had failed to mention his Sandstone Trail performance!)
1 December: Big turn out in the cold at Cheddleton. Some great runs including: Big Stu 5th in 34:25! & a PB for Rob (41:08). Other results here and pictures in the gallery. Marcus proves that his 'standing-up all day training' program does work as he finishes the Wesham 10k in 38:33!
29 November: News from New Mexico Updated - see Nicky's interview (note the developing Yankee accent!)
17 November: A date for your diaries! Sunday December 28th is the date for the annual Christmas Trip out to complete a leg of the Welsh Castles Relay. This years stage is the extremely picturesque mountain stage (leg 7) from Dolgellau to Dinas Mawddwy (9.75 miles). That evening there will also be a party at Helen's parents house in Kingsley 6pm onwards - all welcome to come to either or both events.
17 November: In the North Staffs Cross Country League on Saturday, Carole Williams had another great run to finish 92nd. 'Big Stu' Doyle managed to produce a fantastic performance transferring his road form on to the Mud to take 5th place, with Tom 26th, Goffy 40th, and Colin 147th backing him up.
Carole and Colin were back out on Sunday competing in the Manchester League! Carole finishing 94th in the ladies race and Colin 178th in the mens 5th V60, with John Davies having an excellent run to take 200th position and 8th V60, beating a number of his regular rivals in the process.
On the roads Mary Tavener was 2nd LV45 in the Preston 10 Miles in 74.06 and Vincent Van Woerkem 14th in The Barnsley 10k in a time of 36.02.
14 November: Congratulations to Ruth and 'Mad' Mike on the birth of their second child on 12 November. Another boy, Thomas, to follow in the family running footsteps. Best Wishes from all Weedall Wonders
3 November: Report of Nicky's latest race in the U.S. is now in the News from New Mexico section. Big VRAC turn out at Langley - led home by Stu Doyle with an excellent 4th place - see pics. With 355 burpees and then running the Langley 7 in a 22lb jacket, Glyn reminds us all we are just too soft! Tom wins vets prizes in both the Helvellyn and Ullswater trail races. Pete Clayton in the prizes too - see pics.
26 October: Clutty and Steve finish the Snowdonia Marathon in appalling wet and windy conditions - a great achievement - well done guys! Vincent and several thousand other runners make the news headlines in the OMM! Hainsey, Goffy, Graham and Tom turn up to run in the mudbath at Heaton Park - only to be shocked by the strength of the competition! (Results Here). Finally Goffy attempts a new record for the Mast Hill but forgets to stop his watch.
